SMBX: Bloodline - The Solar Bros. and Lunar Bros.

There is a big revelation about the Mario Bros., Marvin and the Sea Side King. The four of them share the same ancestors of legend who were both associated with fire and thunder. Their ancestors were twin brothers, known as the legendary Big Nosed Brothers, who existed thousands of years ago prior the Mario series. The older brother was named Oriam and the little brother was named Iguli.

The era of Oriam and Iguli:
Thousands of years ago, in an ancient era, a certain event happened to the Hero chosen by the Star Goddess of that era, which caused him to sacrifice himself to save the world. Before his last breath, the hero offered his blessings to someone else who has a kind heart, an unbreakable spirit and remarkable courage. That person could become the Chosen Hero in the future, whether if it's a close future or a far distant era. If not enough, the hero pleaded to the Star Goddess Asteria to chose Seven Star Children of which one among them will be the Hero of Legend and passed on, leaving the world's fate in the Star Goddess' hands. Although she had other plans for the next chosen hero.

Eventually, the hero's blessings were offered to Oriam, the older brother. Blessed with the Legendary Hero's power, was praised, worshiped and considered the best. He obtained the power of fire, which its temperature can go as high as the sun. However, Iguli, who always lived under his brother's shadow, grew to become jealous and irritated. Determined to grow stronger and surpass his brother, Iguli secretly trained, worked and journeyed on his own. He met the opposite and younger sister of the Star Goddess, the Moon Goddess Luna, who also grew sick of her older sibling. It was the first in a long time that she attempts to intervene with Asteria's will and chose Iguli to be her knight, offering him the power of lightning. This was at the time that Oriam and Iguli wouldn't see each other for a long time, though Oriam desperately search for him for years.

Years later, Oriam and Iguli have found each other again. Although, Iguli want a showdown with Oriam to see who is the strongest between them, although Oriam didn't want to fight but want to know where Iguli had been doing all these years. Iguli charged at Oriam and both fought each other for months with everything they both got. Legends said that they both had fearsome godly power that even caused collateral damages to the landscape. Oriam won the showdown and asked why Iguli was determined to fight him. Iguli answered why and revealed that if he was powerful enough, he would be equal to Oriam, thinking that power was the answer to everything. Oriam contradict Iguli's resolve, stating that he was able to be the hero he is now is because he had strong connection with them and loved them dearly, that love is the answer to everything. Iguli was disgusted and refuse to admit defeat, he left and never to be seen again.

An upcoming era:
Eventually, Oriam and Iguli would have descendants, of which Iguli's always have multiple generations akin to the Big Nosed Brothers, having similar appearance and/or similar history, may it be a brother or a cousin or a distant relative. One of which would inherit Oriam's Will of Love and one of which would inherit Iguli's Will of Power, whether he is the older or younger relative. It is known that whatever or whoever that individual may be, they are destined to fight each other to the death. One relative will defeat the other. Hundreds of years of reified brotherly rivalry, the desendants of Iguli and the descendants of human/angel hybrids lived among the humans of a land that would be known as Sea Side. Years of interbreeding, Iguli's latest decendants would also possess the blood and spiritual powers of the angels, which are King Varun and Marvin.

Oriam's descendants on the other hand were always normal individuals and eventually, Oriam's bloodline diminished on Mushroom World and disappeared into another world known as Planet Earth. Several years, Oriam's latest descendants were the first to have the same appearance as Oriam and Iguli. At their birth, these two little babies, Mario and Luigi, along with five other babies on Mushroom World have been chosen as Star Children by the Goddess Asteria herself and one of which the seven children is the foreseen Hero of Legend.

Trivia (Spoilers):
The Hero of Legend from the ancient era is someone entirely different from Mario or Luigi. Also, he did not actually chose Oriam to be the next Chosen Hero, but he did offered his blessings to Oriam so that one of his descendants would be chosen by the Star Goddess and be the Hero of Legend, which turned out to be Mario.

The Fire God and Thunder God from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga are also associated with Oriam and Iguli, the Star Goddess and the Moon Goddess, although their relations are currently unknown.

Despite that Oriam was the Solar Bro., his descendant Luigi on the other hand also possess the power of lightning that was bestowed upon him by the Thunder God.

Iguli's descendants which are Oriam's will and Iguli's will reincarnated do not have the same godly power as Oriam's or Iguli's but do share the same elements. Marvin, supposedly the younger Lunar bro., is strongly associated with wind due to his angelic heritage. Although he is capable of using fire-type and light-type elements. King Varun, the older Lunar bro. uses water, lightning, and dark elements but can also use fire and lava-based elements because of his angelic heritage. Although, more specific details are yet to be revealed.

Mario and Luigi are flesh and blood twin brothers, although Marvin and the Sea Side King are "spiritually" twin brothers but are actually half-siblings. They were born from different mothers. It is known that the King Varun do not acknowledge Marvin as a brother at all.

Oriam and Iguli are actually "Mario" and "Luigi", although letters are placed in different ways.

The way the characters and the story of Oriam and Iguli, they are nearly reminiscent to the Yin and Yang brothers, Indra and Asura from Naruto: Shippuden and their descendants, Madara and Hashirama and Sasuke and Naruto, although their descendants are not brothers but they are "brothers reincarnated" due to be reborn as Indra and Asura. And in contrast to the brothers in Naruto, the one who falls into darkness in Super Mario Bros. X is the younger brother Iguli and the older brother Oriam has the power of light.
