Trinity of Wart

Wart never split himself into three. All of this is all in his head, because dreams comes from the mind and he is capable of turning dreams into reality. These three Warts are actually one being, Wart himself. His manifestation of his hatred on Mario, his dreamy self, and himself as emotionless but still personally hates Mario as well. These three are quite powerful dreamers:

Little Wart possess the power of darkness. His great anger, jealousy and hatred on Mario turned him into a monster. He is capable of making nightmares come true.

Phantom Wart is Wart's dreamy self and takes the role of his soul. He lives in dreams or nightmares of anybody, even himself. This is actually the same Wart Mario faced in Super Mario Bros. 2 and onwards.

Emotionless Wart is the actual Wart who manifested "some" of his hatred as one and had his dreamy self leaving his mind while sleeping. He is incredibly powerful after achieving a level to that of a deity. He takes the role of King of Dreams and Nightmares. This Wart has completely nothing inside but his anger at Mario.

He possess the ability to create all of these after releasing himself from the curse of the Specter Sword, though becoming an all-powerful Dream God by going through all worst nightmares and waking up from the endless curse is a myth. Wart is among the very special legendary people came to life.
